It started long ago..... 

Wishful Thinking is the Virginia based songwriting collaboration of lifelong friends Don Halterman and Charley Gilbert.  After initially playing together in their high school band Odyssey, they began working on original music, choosing back then to call the project Wishful Thinking.  College and differing paths stalled the initial effort.  But, the experience and those early songs were not forgotten. 

Charley went on to play in a variety of bands in the ensuing years including Quitting Time, The Highbeams, Last Plane Out, and Scooby Don’t.  Don went a different path, all the while continuing to write songs, staying actively involved in music through community theatre and as a worship leader. 

In 2015, Don, (aka 'Spike'), started Grander Music LLC to make meaningful music and to be a positive influence for as many as possible.  A few years later Don suggested to Charley that they should revive Wishful Thinking and see where it could go now.  The rest is history.  Don is very prolific in creating music and provides the foundation from which their songs are built from his guitar and keyboard.  He occasionally adds the lyrics also, but normally Charley steps in at that point with the words and finishes development of the song. Charley has always loved vocal harmony and seeks to always use and do interesting things with it. Happily, the process is working.  They’ve been able to create and produce a lot of music and have much in the pipeline.  Stay tuned.  Always something new, always something beyond…..
